Whether you’re a complete beginner going for your very first CBT or an experienced rider working towards your full A licence, our training centre at Thelwall Parish Hall, Bell Lane, Thelwall, Warrington, WA4 2SX is perfectly placed to serve riders from across Warrington, Cheshire, Merseyside and Greater Manchester.

Thelwall sits at the heart of the North West’s motorway network — just minutes from the M6, M56 and M62 — making us genuinely accessible from a wide area. We’re proud to provide motorcycle and CBT training to riders from the following towns and villages:

Local Warrington Villages

Riders from the villages immediately surrounding Thelwall make up the core of our local community. If you’re based in Thelwall itself, the Parish Hall is right on your doorstep. Neighbouring Grappenhall and Stockton Heath are just minutes away, with the 5A bus running directly through both villages into Thelwall. Appleton, Penketh and Winwick are all within a 10-minute drive, each connected by the excellent network of south Warrington roads that you’ll be riding during your training. Culcheth and Burtonwood are slightly further north but still well within easy reach, with direct bus connections into Warrington and onward to Thelwall.

Warrington Town

Warrington itself is our home base — sitting just 3 miles north of Thelwall, the town is connected to us by the 5A bus from the town’s Bus Interchange, making training accessible with or without a car. With its mix of A-roads, residential streets and dual carriageways, Warrington is an ideal environment to build the real-world riding skills you’ll use every day.

Cheshire & Merseyside

We regularly welcome riders from further afield across Cheshire and Merseyside. Northwich — Cheshire’s salt town on the River Weaver — is around 20 minutes south via the A49. Runcorn is a short drive north across the Mersey Gateway. Widnes sits just to the west across the river, connected by frequent bus services into Warrington. Ellesmere Port — home to the Vauxhall plant and the National Waterways Museum — is around 24 minutes away, with a direct Northern Trains service to Warrington Bank Quay running Monday to Saturday. St Helens, famous for its glassmaking heritage and the Saints rugby league club, is just 9 miles west and well connected by bus.

Greater Manchester

From the south, Altrincham is one of our closest Greater Manchester connections — just 10 miles east along the A56, with the 5A bus running directly from Altrincham Interchange through Thelwall. Manchester city centre is around 18 miles east, with frequent trains from Manchester Oxford Road and Piccadilly reaching Warrington Central in just 23 minutes. Wigan is 14 miles north, with a direct 9-minute train to Warrington Bank Quay running hourly throughout the day.

Liverpool

Liverpool is 18 miles to the west, with TransPennine Express trains running from Liverpool Lime Street to Warrington Central every 20 minutes in under 25 minutes — one of the most convenient connections in our catchment area.

More importantly, the roads around Thelwall offer an outstanding mix of training environments. From the quiet village lanes of Thelwall and Grappenhall, to the dual carriageways of the A49 and A56, to the residential roads of south Warrington and the open Cheshire countryside heading towards Lymm and Knutsford — our trainees get exposure to the full range of real-world road conditions from their very first session.
